Pollenwarte has no user accounts and no server of our own. Your diary, settings and saved places stay on your device. Forecast services receive only a coordinate, rounded to about 1 km, in order to fetch a forecast for that place. There is no advertising, no tracking and no analytics SDK.

1. Who is responsible

Anton Romanyuk · Contact: admiral.tolwyn@gmail.com

2. Data that stays on your device

The following is stored locally (Hive database and app preferences) and is not transmitted by the app to us or to anyone else:

  • Diary entries including symptoms, severities and free-text notes
  • Selected trigger species (trigger profile)
  • Saved and recently used places
  • App settings, notification and language preferences
  • Cached forecasts for offline use

Deleting the app removes this data together with the app container. Device backups you have turned on yourself (iCloud Backup, Google backup) may contain diary and location data under your own account.

3. Location

The app requests location access only "While Using the App", and only when a forecast for your current position is requested. Access is optional: places can be chosen manually through the location search instead. Coordinates are not stored by us; they are kept locally and sent to the forecast providers listed below to answer a request. Before every request they are rounded to two decimal places, which is about 1 km.

4. External services

To retrieve forecast data the app makes requests to the providers below. These requests carry a coordinate or a search term, plus the technical connection data (IP address, timestamp, user agent) that any web request produces at the provider. Diary data is not transmitted, except when you export or print the doctor report yourself.

ServicePurposeData sent
Open-Meteo (air quality, weather and geocoding APIs)Hourly pollen and weather values, place searchCoordinates or search term
Deutscher Wetterdienst (opendata)German pollen hazard indexNo location parameters (whole-file download)
Google Pollen APIDaily indices and heatmap tiles in the map viewCoordinates or tile coordinates
CARTO / OpenStreetMapBase map in the map viewTile coordinates
Apple (reverse geocoding, a network request; Google on Android)Turning coordinates into a place name for displayCoordinates
Apple App Store (in-app purchase)Buying, renewing and cancelling Pollenwarte PlusHandled by Apple through your Apple Account; the app never sees payment data
RevenueCatChecking and restoring whether Pollenwarte Plus is activeA random, anonymous app user ID, the App Store purchase receipts (product, dates, status), app version, operating system and store country
Support requests (email to the developer)Answering your question or bug reportOnly if you write: sent from your own mail app to the developer's Gmail mailbox. Contains your message and sender address, plus the app version, OS version, language, Plus status and the RevenueCat support ID

RevenueCat is asked at app launch and when you buy or restore, so the app knows whether Plus is active. The anonymous ID is created on the device; it is not linked to any diary, symptom or location data, nor to a name or an email address until you send us a support request: it then sits in your email next to your sender address. No user attributes or usage data are sent to RevenueCat.

5. What the app does not do

  • No user accounts, no sign-up, no login
  • No advertising and no ad tracking, no advertising identifiers
  • No analytics, crash-reporting or attribution SDKs
  • No sale or sharing of data for marketing purposes
  • AI chat and photo identification are disabled in this version; no photos are uploaded

6. Notifications

Notifications are scheduled and delivered locally on the device. There is no push server and no device token.

7. Legal basis and your rights

Where the GDPR applies, processing rests on Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR in order to deliver the forecast you asked for. Because we hold no personal data on servers of our own, we cannot export or erase app data on your behalf. Inside the app, diary entries can be deleted one by one in the diary, saved places removed from the place list and trigger species deselected in Settings; deleting the app removes all of its data from the device. Support emails you send us stay in our mailbox; we delete them on request. Data arising at the providers named in section 4 is governed by their own privacy policies.

8. Children

The app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Changes

Changes to this policy are published on this page with a new date.
