Frequently asked questions

Where do the pollen values come from?

Hourly values come from the CAMS model, served through Open-Meteo, in grains per cubic metre of air. For Germany the Deutscher Wetterdienst pollen hazard index is shown alongside. The map view shows daily indices and heatmap tiles from the Google Pollen API. All values are model forecasts, not measurements taken at your location.

Why is there no data for my place?

The CAMS model covers Europe. Outside that area, or where the model has gaps, the app shows "unavailable" rather than inventing a number. A missing value is deliberately not the same thing as a measured zero.

Why do I see older values offline?

Cached forecasts keep their original source timestamp and are labelled as cached. They are replaced after a successful refresh.

Notifications are not arriving

Check iOS Settings → Notifications → Pollenwarte that notifications are allowed, and in the app that at least one trigger species is selected. Notifications are scheduled locally and sometimes depend on a background refresh.

How do I delete my data?

Diary entries can be deleted individually in the diary. All app data is removed completely when the app is deleted from the device. We keep no copy on any server; a device backup you have turned on (iCloud, Google) may contain it under your own account.

Does the app replace medical advice?

No. Pollenwarte shows modelled forecast values and notes you record yourself. Relationships between the diary and pollen values are purely statistical and do not establish a cause. If you have symptoms, talk to a doctor.
